Sustainable, Innovative, Smart

Second Cycle
We believe in the future of this industry and, above all, that it is time to make a change.

An innovative and sustainable project with a supraregional impact.

In our entrepreneurial activities, we deal specifically with the question of how we can strengthen ecological sustainability and social responsibility while maintaining our economic performance.

We want to promote rethinking and are looking for new solutions. Tackling the second cycle issue in particular is of crucial importance with regard to the ecological and economic challenges facing the furniture industry. More than 10 million tons of furniture are disposed of in the EU member states every year, of which around 2.5 million are disposed of in Germany. Reuse and upcycling must be promoted in order to reduce the ecological footprint and contribute to the circular economy.

Ronald McDonald Children's Fund - , a sample project by Vitra

With the Vitra Circle Stores, Vitra has developed a retail concept that gives used furniture from Vitra and Artek a second life. The Vitra Circle Store in Brussels provided Eames Plastic Chairs to furnish the offices, cafeteria, and rooms at the Ronald McDonald House. The chairs contribute to the cozy atmosphere of the rooms.

A piece of furniture in the second cycle

Vitra Ad Hoc—a timeless table

The Ad Hoc table from 1996 is more than just a piece of furniture – it is a design classic that still impresses today. Its striking frame forms the basis for a wide range of adaptations: Whether new table top materials, different sizes or modern usage concepts – the clear construction allows for contemporary further development.
An example of how high-quality designs endure over decades and can be reinterpreted time and time again.
